Washer Toss Games

Our Car Club went to BaysWater on Sunday July15th for a cruise and to
play a few washer toss games.
The weather was awesome and we had a great turnout.
We had a potluck picnic, enough fun for lunch and for supper.
Thanks to all the members for the wonderful meal.
Fun was had by everyone and it will be something we will be doing again in the future.

 - 33 Members in attendance. “ that’s better “

 - Meeting opened by President Cecil Kane.

 - Minutes from our last meeting ( Apr.01/12) were tabled by Rhoda and approved.


- Financial Report given by Cindy, our account balance is $ ######

 - Cecil reported that the changes to our clubs by-laws are gone to the Registry of Joint Stock Companies for approval.

 - Cecil informed us that there will be no quilt available to sell tickets on, so we will use the newly acquired pedal car from A & W to raise funds this year.

 - Dave Guptill has been confirmed for our Christmas Dinner & Dance.

 - Cecil asked for feedback on the A & W location after being there for our meet and greet. Merton Rafuse asked to speak on this, Merton said that we will have to make this work as the A & W is investing a lot of time and money into making us feel at home, supporting us and helping out with give aways.

Richard Ward asked if the A& W in the mall was able to accommodate us, due to the parking issues. The mall will not do this due to liability issues.

 -  Conrad LeLievre addressed the meeting on the Reg. of Motor Vehicles, Inspection Branch. No solid news as yet, but, did inform us that he will be replacing Hub Baxter on the N.A.A.C.C. board.

 - Cecil asked Wilbert Kane to chair the show & shine committee, but declined. Conrad volunteered to do this as long as he had lots of help. I am sure that volunteers will jump at the chance to help. You can park cars, help set up the venue, man the gate, etc.

 - Don`t forget to bring you car to display at the Greewich Shannex on Saturday, June 16 from 2 to 4 pm. Refeshments will be supplied. We will meet at and leave from Tim Hortons around 1:30 pm. The Shannex is a retirement and nursing home.

 - Cecil found a number of Car Quest gift certificates in the fun run bin, that is why hardly any came back to Car Quest for use.

 - Correspondence:

- We received a thank you card from Rosamond Smeltzer, she is doing better and wishes that she can join us soon. Rosamond and Ervin are being missed by the club also.

 - George Windsor informed the club that the Kentville Police has won a second place award for best dressed police car in all of Canada ! It was moved that the Kentville Police be invited to show their car at our show this summer, motion carried.

 - George Windsor is still looking for a few more cars to carry out an Apple Blossom Cruise for the New Minas 50 Plus Seniors Club in memory of Joan Chase, Deb Ambermans mom, on Wed. May 30. Looking for 15 cars if possible with a lunch to follow. Please contact George if you can participate on that day.

 - Cecil informed us that Ted VanTrigt will not be joining the club this year.
- With no further new business, Cecil closed the meeting.

 - 50/50 draw was $28.00, won by Linda Hiltz.

 - Next meeting is June 03, 2012 at 7 pm.

March News Letter 2012

- 25 Members in attendance.
- Meeting opened by President Cecil Kane.
- Minutes from our last meeting ( Feb.05/12) were tabled by Rhoda and approved.
- Financial Report given by Cindy, our account balance is $

   Cindy reported that the committee for updating our by-laws have not met as yet.
- Cecil reported that the Lions Hall has been booked for Dec. 01, 2012.
 Our Christmas Dinner & Dance. Cecil will talk with Dave Guptill on music. The status on the quilt for this year, still unknown.

 - Rhoda will be sending a sympathy card to Ann Brown and Marg Rafuse.

 - The A & W is now our new meeting place for Cruise Nights. Merton will be returning our car pictures that used to hang in the Burger King.

 - Cruise Nights volunteers, June is Tim Kane & Richard Ward. July is Eugene Schofield & Justin Balsor. August is Merton Rafuse & Brian Titus.

 - The Final year end cruise was set for Sunday, Sept. 23.

 - Our annual auction is set for Wednesday, Aug. 15.

 - Cecil called for a volunteer for our annual Car Show, as  Chairperson, no volunteers. Will try at the next meeting.

 - Cecil called for volunteers for the Social Comm. Rose Kane & Sarah Bigelow volunteered.

 - Cecil called for extra volunteers on the Phone Comm. Marg Melanson volunteered to help Rose & Marj. Kane.

 - A vote took place to see if Conrad LeLievre would become a member, voted in.

 - Harold Powers introduced himself and looking for membership in the club.

 - Correspondence :

   1. Cindy received the last two thank you cards from local schools for the breakfast programs.

   2. Cindy read an update letter from Conrad LeLievre on revisions to the Motor Vehicle Act. Negotiations and meeting still ongoing.

   3. Cindy received at letter from Ann Brown asking if we could put on a car display at the Shannex in Greewich. Further details to follow.

   4. Rosamond Smeltzer not well, Rhoda will send gift basket and card.

 - New Business :

 George Windsor addressed the club with the idea of a Apple Blossom Cruise for the New Minas 50 Plus Seniors Club in memory of Joan Chase, Deb Ambermans mom, on Wed. May 30. Looking for 15 cars if possible with a lunch to follow. Please contact George if you can participate on that day.

 - Brian Titus addressed the club to give a report on the number of car clubs listed in the Old Autos publication. 910 clubs across Canada, 35 clubs in Atlantic Canada, 16 in N. S., 7 in N. B., 7 in PEI & 5 in NFL.

 - Merton Rafuse suggested that the club give a thank you card to the Burger King Restaurant for the years it had hosted our club. Also, Merton suggested that Cecil notify the owners of the Burger King that we will not need their parking area anymore.

 - With no further new business, Cecil closed the meeting.

 - 50/50 draw was $25.00, won by Harold Powers.

 - Next meeting is April 01, 2012 at 7 pm.

 There are still some outstanding dues, you know who you are.
